Changes in me

Not only are there changes in my lifestyle now because of living on a sail boat but there are noticeable changes in me. We can start with appearance . . .I mainly wear a baseball cap now that says "Living Aboard" this way I don't have to worry about my hair that is already short but is effected by moisture. I only wear a little make up now so that I don't look like a ghost, no more nails, , just one more thing to worry about. . . I live in sweat shorts or jeans and sweat shirts. Shoes are crocks or Rebock walkers.

These changes are not entirely new since I adapted some of these when I gave up working almost 5 yrs ago, but a dress or nice clothes are not a part of daily life unless I find a uniform to wear that conforms with this new lifestyle change.

I have noticed in the little time we have lived aboard my skin is tougher, I have leg and arm muscles from constantly climbing off the boat and pulling the boat closer to the dock to get on and off. My appetite has slowed down, I am pretty sure I just don't eat on the boat a lot because it is a pain to fix food. Salads are the popular meal or anything cooked in the microwave. I am going to try cooking eggs in a few min.(microwave of course).

I am hoping for the biggest change to come within my head, survival through the Winter is now the most important part of my life, not the trivial crap going on in a volunteer position. There is no actual way I could have prepared for this new life except living it. I read many books but none give you specific detail as to how to live day to day and the changes you will see.

I used to sit in the hot tub and just listen to nature now I sit in a cold cock pit and watch nature and water mix and know this is effecting me more than I ever expected.

into third week

Life on a sail boat is getting to comfortable, piles are starting and lingering. . I have never lived like that. The one pattern I do see returning to my lifestyle is the ironing board, clothes and iron are up, some what smaller but visible.

We are getting the hang of stopping at the shower house on the way to and from the boat, shower nights, how to get on the boat in low and high tide as well as off. Sleeping patterns, it all falls in place as a routine is set. I don't feel the need to tell people I live on a boat, as people who live in a trailer do not share that info either. I do realise we are living many others dreams but make sure I don't give up mine for there's.

Not much of anything new has happened as far as life here, it's quiet and each day more and more boats leave the slips. We are getting ready to make our lists of improvements and get ready for the Winter months. I am paying our slip feel today that will keep us here for 1 yr.

I am still trying to get used to the fact I live out of my car as I did when my kids were younger. They were in so many sports it was easier keeping some of our belongings with us then constantly going back home.

The weather has been consistent, Rain! and some sunny days. I clean more than I did in a house because it is a smaller space and spend more time cleaning up after meals. . that I have to work on.

Will update changes on Friday
