Start of week Two

I can't say it has gotten any easier. . a lot like living in a motel or smaller. This week we cooked on the propane stove in the galley. .I like carry out more and more. Note to self...look for friends who cook. It seems my quiet days on the boat are spent organizing and re organizing. Car was broken into this week, DVD's were taken. . the one I am the saddest about is Captain Ron. . I will order that tomorrow....close your eyes Papa. I can't say there are any new revelations this week. . Remember the Air Stream Trailers. . that is what living on a sailboat is like. I do love my Berth!



 I just heard there are flood watches here. . .I saw some animals lining up 2 by 2 at our dock. . what's that about?

First week

I can not describe what I thought living on a 40 ft. sailboat would be like and what it really is. Many days of organizing and reorganizing, knowing what you can live with and what you have to live without. Torrential rains, the boat does not leak which is a good thing but condensation is a big problem. Everything has to be in plastic, I found out the hard way and have spent many hours at the laundromat at the first marina. Food prep. is is ok but cooking is non existent for the time being. We have a 2 burner propane stove that is yet to be hooked up so it is low watt. microwave or sand whiches. Which brings me to the refridge. . it is one of the best for a boat but is still like living out of a stacked cooler, naturally everything you need is on the bottom, now matter how I organize that it will never be perfect, just passable. Sleeping quarters are smaller than we are used to, since we have reverted back to the infant stage where any fresh air tires you out it has not been a problem. The berths are double beds as well as the settee that converts to a double bed as well. I am used to the fact that I can use the head(toilet) as well as make coffee at the same time. I can also choose my wardrobe for the day and clean the kitty litter at the same time(that will change today). When Papa is not on board there is plenty of room for Ava and myself to move around the vessel with ease, add Papa and someone has top sit. He is not here much since he is the one paying for this life style but when he is I go to the enclosed cock pit for some bonding with nature.

The cats are adjusting very well, they are on land as I type exploring there new home. I hope they don't like land better! Ava is adjusting very well also, she just took a lap around the deck and swung from as many lines as she could possibly do safely. She thinks this is fun and can't wait until she is Boat Schooled, I can't either it will eliminate the 40 min. ride to her current school. Which brings me to wake up times in the morning. Papa leaves out of here at 4:30 am, we wake at 6 am to eat,get dressed and easily get off the boat if it is low tide, if it is high tide we need to allow another 5 min. to accurately jump on the dock.

Showers are taken at night up in the shower house as to not add any more moisture to the boat, the boat does have a lovely shower that will be used in the Summer or when we are traveling South.

To many we are Crazy. . .to us we are living a new Life Style and enjoying it. . .we have been asked many times this week if we knew before what we know now would we do this again. . . .we did not have to think long. . YES ! It will only get better I think
